“One of our officers used a Prayer Bear last night to calm down a distraught six-year-old girl. […] The officer said she was so excited to receive the bear.”
JOY FM Prayer Bears continue to bring comfort and hope to children across the St. Louis area, just like this young girl. From hospital rooms and homeless shelters to courtrooms and funeral homes, each one is a tangible reminder that God’s love shows up right where it’s needed most.
And now they’ve been delivered to local Police Departments who are planning to station them in their patrol cars!

Partnering with Local Police Departments
Recently, the Ellisville Police Department picked up Prayer Bears to keep in their patrol cars and at their station. These bears will now be ready and waiting to comfort any child they meet who may be going through a difficult situation.
A commander from the department shared this powerful story:
“One of our officers used a Prayer Bear last night to calm down a distraught six-year-old girl. Sadly, she is a foster child, and the family that had been fostering her decided to end the process and return her to the state. The officer said she was so excited to receive the bear. We are all praying she finds a loving home soon.”
A Comforting Connection
A similar situation happened with the St. Charles Police Department. After chatting with one of their policemen, bears were delivered as soon as our team could bring them over.
One of their officers expressed her gratitude, saying:
“I’m actually really excited about having these in my patrol car. I give kids stickers any chance I get because they’re usually a little nervous about me being there… It helps to break the ice. And a bear is even more comforting!”
She went on to share that officers often encounter children in tough situations, and that these Prayer Bears can bring a bit of light during dark times in their lives.

Hope in Unexpected Places
Whether it’s a child in a hospital bed, a shelter, or the back of a police car, your generosity has helped to remind kids that they are seen, loved, and never alone.
Thank you for helping JOY FM spread God’s love and hope in our city, one Prayer Bear at a time.
