I like to be liked. On facebook. By my coworkers. By friends. By my kids. I just like to be liked! What’s wrong with that?
“They loved praise from men more than praise from God.” John 12:43
Here’s what I’m learning: There’s nothing wrong with being liked. But if we value the opinion of people more than the approval of God, we are on a slippery slope.
God doesn’t call us to be unpleasant and unliked. But He does call us to live in ways that the world, at times, may not understand or appreciate. And when that happens, we have a choice to either please people or honor God.
I pray that God will helps us with our “people pleasing” tendencies and give us a heart that longs to please our Father. What could be sweeter than hearing “Well done,” by the Only One that matters? – Sandi
