Have you ever given something away and then regretted it? Like, your last piece of gum? Or maybe your joy?
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1
Every time I read this verse, I’m struck by, “Don’t let…” It’s like Jesus is saying that we have a say in whether our hearts are at peace or not. Maybe we do?
Trouble is always “out there.” But for it to get “in here,” I have to let it in. I choose to fret about it, relive it, and not let it go.
But every time I pray about it and trust God with it, I’m not letting it in. When I think more about who Jesus is than what the trouble is, I’m not letting my heart be troubled.
So, if trouble is staring you down, don’t let it in. Give it to the One who overcame every trouble this world has to offer. He has peace for you today. – Sandi
