If you’re feeling discouraged or “down in the dumps,” God sees you. And while there may not be a quick fix to your situation, what if there is a good place to focus your attention and emotions?
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Who so disturbed…? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42:5
There is something powerful in saying, “I will praise you anyway.”
It is OK and honest to admit that your soul is longing for something. That you are disappointed and discouraged. But praising God anyway is good for your downcast soul.
It resets your focus. It reminds your heart that God is still good, even when you’re walking through really difficult terrain. He meets you in the worship and comforts you as only He can.
So if you are feeling down, why not offer a sacrifice of praise? You may not feel like it. But your emotions don’t have to set the course for your heart and attention.
Hope in Him today. Worship Him anyway. – Sandi
