It was a “lightbulb” moment for me recently. God showed me that I need to be a better “leader” of myself. Obviously, God leads our lives. But He was reminding me that I have a role to play in leading myself to healthy spiritual disciplines. There are some things we either choose to do or not.
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will be always on my lips.” Psalm 34:1
Have you noticed how many times “I will” appears in the Psalms? I will praise. I will sing. I will confess. So many others. David, who struggled with discouragement and depression, was “willing” his way to faith.
What a great lesson! What if it isn’t productive to wait for someone else to change our mood, or our attitude. (They can’t, btw). What if today is a great day to take the lead? To say, “I will pray. I will trust and I will bless the Lord.” May His praise always be on our lips. – Sandi
