Is Worry An Idol In Your Life?

Is Worry An Idol In Your Life?

Is worry your idol?  I was “lovingly” called out by one of my kids recently.  They said, “I think worry is your idol.”  After a moment of shock and denial,  I asked why they thought that was true.  They said that an idol is anything in our life that you focus on more than God.  If it gets the most of your time and your energy, then it is an idol.  Our passion….then it is an idol.  They were right.

“Do not worry about your life….Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness…..”  Matthew 6:25-34

Easier said than done, but I don’t want worry to be my idol. I don’t want to waste any minutes or hours of my life leaning into the “what ifs” that may never happen.

Instead, I want to seek Him first. I want to turn every worry into a prayer. I want my thoughts to be surrendered to Christ.  And I don’t want to be called out again by my kids!

If you wrestle with worry too, take a moment and hand over just one worry. Trust God with just one thing. And enjoy the peace that He gives when you seek Him first. – Sandi
