He stood at the back of the Guatemalan church that we were visiting. But he could only stand with the help of crutches because his legs were deformed. As the music played, I will never forget the joy he displayed as he worshiped Jesus. The look on his face. The freedom to dance, crutches in hand, before the Lord.
“My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.” Psalm 28:7
I don’t know that man’s story. Clearly, he had physical challenges and probably financial ones as well. But none of his challenges got in the way of the joy that he found in Jesus. And nothing was going to keep him from rejoicing.
I’m sure, like that gentleman, that you have real struggles and challenges in your life. We all do. But I pray that the goodness of God that you’ve experienced would well up and cause you to leap for joy in gratitude before the Lord. He is worthy.
