He Must Become Greater. I Must Become Less.  (What That Means For Me This Year)

He Must Become Greater. I Must Become Less.  (What That Means For Me This Year)

Has God ever pointed out an area in your life that He wants to “grow” you in? He did that for me this new year.  I’ve known this verse for a long time:

“He must become greater. I must become less.” John 3:30

But sometimes I equate my relationship with Jesus with striving to do more. Read more. Do some things less. But what if the key to a growing relationship with Jesus is to become more like Him?

More Jesus looks like: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

And God lovingly invited me to grow in the area of gentleness this year. To be gentler with myself. And more gentle with others.

For that to happen, He needs to be greater in my life than my own thoughts and actions.

I don’t simply want to know Jesus as my Savior. I want Him to be forming me to be more like Jesus.  I want to grow in gentleness this year. How about you? What would it look like for you to become less and Jesus to become greater in your life? – Sandi
