I am not a fan of Jesus. Sounds shocking, doesn’t it? But here’s why: God isn’t calling us to be fans. He is calling us to be followers.
“If you love me, you will obey what I command.” John 14:15
This can be an “ouch” verse for me. It is easy for me to say that I love Jesus. But it can be really difficult for me to follow His lead. To choose to forgive. To love my enemies. To be humble and a peacemaker. To choose His way over my own.
That is what it means to love Him. I pray that God would lovingly call out the places in our lives where we are more of a fan than a follower. May He ignite a love and passion in us that is rooted in obeying His way and surrendering our own. – Sandi
