Sometimes God asks us to “do” or “go” and it just isn’t convenient. And sometimes I opt for “easy” instead of obedience. That’s why this verse hits me so powerfully:
“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God an offering that costs me nothing.” 2 Samuel 24:24
David, as King, was preparing an offering to the Lord. His servants offered to do the heavy lifting… paying for and preparing the offering. But David didn’t choose “easy.” He didn’t want to simply put his name on someone else’s offering. He went “all in.” It cost him something. It was a true sacrifice.
And God honored his heart and his offering. I want that kind of heart. One that values giving and honors God, even when it is costly. – Sandi
