Several years ago, we moved to a different house in our same neighborhood. And I can’t tell you how many times I pulled into our old driveway. It wasn’t that I forgot where I lived; I think my mind just led me to what was most familiar.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
It’s not that I forget that God is God. But oftentimes, my mind and heart just veer to something familiar…like doubt or worry. For a moment, it feels familiar. Until the Holy Spirit reminds me that I’m in the wrong driveway. I don’t live there anymore.
Is your heart racing today with what-ifs and fear? Have you let familiar anxious thoughts take the lead?
If so, may this be your reminder to be still. Notice which driveway you’re in. Are your thoughts rooted in the truth of God’s authority? He is God. He is faithful. Let that soak in. Be still in His presence and His goodness. And call that place, “home.” – Sandi
