The Lord Will Fight For You; You Need Only To Be Still

Why does God encourage us to “be still?” I wrestle with “still.” I want to fix and do. It makes me feel like I’m in control. “I can handle this. I can fix whatever is wrong.” If you’re feeling the pressure to “fix” or “control,” perhaps God wants to invite you to a better way. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 Why, still? Because that’s when we acknowledge that He is in control. We aren’t. When we surrender, we acknowledge our need for Him. He is the only One who can save. When I’m still, I’m trusting Him, not me. That’s the purpose of “still.” God is with you. Right now. And He’s aware of the battle around you. Take a deep breath and simply sit in His presence. May He find you, still. And may you find Him, faithful. -Sandi
