This May Be Your First Step Toward Healing

I had to admit to myself (and my Christian counselor) that I had become a “silo saint.” I’ve not heard anyone else use that term, but I think it applies to a lot of us. We try to do this Christian life without support and accountability. We love Jesus. But we suffer in silence.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

Why does God encourage us to confess and pray in community? Perhaps He knows what is best for our souls and it includes giving and receiving love from each other.

When we’re honest with someone, it encourages growth, in both of us. It fosters trust. It reminds us of our need for a Savior, and each other.

Honesty with God and with each other is powerful.

Don’t settle for being a silo saint. Practice vulnerability with a trusted friend. It just may be the first step on your healing journey. -Sandi
