This is a “sticky” verse for me. It comes to mind often. I say it out loud, and in my head, whenever I’m facing something that seems too big.
“You come against me with sword and spear, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty…” 1 Samuel 17:45
David spoke those confident words when He was toe-to-toe with a literal giant, who was bigger and stronger…and they both knew it.
But David wasn’t relying on His own strength. He had seen God’s faithfulness before, when he fought a lion and a bear. So he didn’t fixate on the size of the giant. Instead, he reminded himself, and the looming enemy, of God’s power and authority.
I don’t want to diminish the difficult, scary things that you may be facing. But I do want to remind you that the Lord Almighty is in the battle with you. Face your giants. Call on the name of Jesus.
