In a world that’s always trying to sell you “more,” I think what we really crave is more….peace and contentment.
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
This verse is usually used as a battle cry when facing insurmountable odds. A reminder that God gives strength to do what you can’t do on your own. So true.
But this “I can do everything” verse is in a paragraph about being content in every circumstance. The context is that we are rarely at peace with the present. When we have little, we crave more. When we have much, it isn’t enough.
That’s when the wisdom and beauty of this verse hits home. It is a declaration and prayer, “God, give me strength to be content in every situation.” You can do everything through Him who gives you strength…(including being content in every situation). He has strength for you today, so that you can be at peace right where you are. -Sandi
