Sometimes, It Is Good To Step Into Shoes That Are Way Too Big

Sometimes, It Is Good To Step Into Shoes That Are Way Too Big

When my boys were little, they loved to try to walk in their daddy’s boots. They didn’t care that the shoes were too big and didn’t fit. They simply wanted to be like their daddy.

“Be imitators of God….and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us….” Ephesians 5:1-2.

This verse used to intimidate me because it felt like an impossible invitation. How can we measure up and be like God? It seemed like a lot of striving and the result would be an endless rat race.

But then I think about my boys. They weren’t trying to measure up. Perfection wasn’t the win. They would tip over; the boots would fall off. It didn’t matter. They found joy in the trying… to be like their dad.

That’s what I want. A desire to be more like Jesus. And to embrace the joy that comes in the journey. I want people to recognize that I’m His…even when I can’t fill His shoes.  – Sandi
