What does “Hope Has a Name” mean?
You don’t have to look far to find someone who needs hope. Maybe that someone is you. What are you hoping for?
- Maybe you’re looking for hope for your future.
- For a relationship that feels like it’s falling apart.
- For a diagnosis you didn’t see coming.
- For your kids.
- Your finances.
- Your purpose.
Or maybe you can’t even put your finger on what’s wrong, but you just know you need something to hold onto.
You’re not the only one.
All across St. Louis, people are looking for hope. In cars on the way to work. In classrooms and offices, around kitchen tables, and behind closed doors. People are searching for something steady. Something bigger than what they’re facing.
And the good news is this:
Hope has a name. His name is Jesus.
Matthew 12:21 says, “And his name will be the hope of all the world.”
That’s what we mean when we say Hope Has a Name in St. Louis. The hope our city needs isn’t ultimately an idea, a feeling, or better circumstances. Hope is found in Jesus.

Where most people get “hope” wrong. This is what it actually means.
It’s easy to think of hope as wishful thinking.
- “I hope things get better.“
- “I hope this works out.“
- “I hope tomorrow is different.“
But that kind of hope depends on what happens next. The kind of hope Jesus offers is different. Your hope doesn’t have to disappear when the news is bad or the future feels uncertain. Because Christian hope isn’t ultimately found in an outcome.
It’s found in a person.
Jesus stepped into a broken world for broken people. He came close to people who were hurting, afraid, lonely, ashamed, and searching. And He still does.
Not every difficult situation will immediately become easy, but with Jesus, you don’t have to face it alone. Whatever you’re carrying today, there’s a hope strong enough to hold you and His name is Jesus.
A Daily Reminder That “Hope Has A Name”
Maybe you already know that. But some days, you need the reminder because life gets loud, doesn’t it?
There are mornings when anxiety starts talking before your feet ever hit the floor. There are afternoons when one phone call changes everything. There are nights when your mind keeps running through all the things you can’t control.
And in those moments, you need something true to cut through the noise. You need to remember that God is still good. That He is near. That you are loved. And that your story isn’t over.
Romans 15:13 calls God “the God of hope.” As you trust Him, He fills you with joy and peace until hope begins to overflow from your life.
That’s the kind of hope St. Louis needs.
Sometimes that reminder comes through a song. A simple word of encouragement at exactly the right moment. Or knowing that somebody is praying for you.
